DADU: Four members of a family died and 10 others suffered injuries in a head-on collision between a passenger coach and a car on the Indus Highway near Khairpur Nathan Shah bypass on Tuesday.

The four belonging to the Memon community were going in a car to the village of Kanhiar Lakhiar in K.N. Shah from Moro to offer condolences over the death of a relative.

The dead were identified as Ghulam Asghar Memon, Yasir Memon, Ms Irshad Khatoon and Shamshad Memon. The names of the injured —women, children and elderly people — could not be identified.

Rescue workers reached the spot, and shifted the bodies and injured to the taluka hospital of K.N. Shah.

The hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Sikandar Naich said that nine injured were discharged after treatment, but the car driver, Naved Arain, was admitted due to his precarious condition.

The K.N. Shah SHO said police had impounded the damaged coach and car, and started investigation.
