LAHORE: As the top leadership of the PML-N on Thursday criticised the PTI for May 9 incidents, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz posed the question to the judiciary as to why those involved were not punished.
“I want to ask the judiciary and media why the May 9 terrorists have not got punishment as yet. How come they get bail from courts,” Maryam wondered while talking to the media at the Corps Commander House here on Thursday. She said May 9 was the black day in the country’s history when ‘Jinnah House’ and other military installations came under attack last year. Those who attacked these installations could not be political people, she said.
“I am asked why don’t I free the women (from jail) who were involved in the May 9 incidents. I tell them who am I to release the May 9 suspects,” she said and added that the PTI was not ashamed of what it had done on the day a year back.
“The nation will neither forget nor forgive May 9. It is very crucial to bring the anti-Pakistan plotters to justice because their action has crossed the red line of honour and dignity of the nation,” the Punjab CM said and added that the perpetrators who weakened the national institution had been exposed. She said all characters involved in it “are about to meet their end”.
Punjab Minister for Information Azma Bokhari said not a single accused of the May 9 incidents had been punished so far. “Before these attacks, the youth were brainwashed for one year. People’s minds were poisoned against the national security institutions,” she said and accused PTI supreme leader Imran Khan for destroying the moral fabric of the nation.
Ms Bokhari demanded that the masterminds, facilitators and miscreant elements of May 9 incidents should be brought to justice.
