ISLAMABAD: A police official and a suspected kidnapper were injured during an encounter in the rural area of the capital on Friday.

Police claimed that the suspect along with two others, including a woman, had kidnapped for ransom a man hailing from Peshawar and detained him in a house.

The man was trapped by the three suspects through the woman who asked him to come to Islamabad and meet her, the police said. When the man reached Islamabad on a rented car and met the woman on G.T. Road on Thursday, her two accomplices overpowered him and drove him to a house in Jhangi Syedan and detained him. Later, they made his video and sent it to his family from his mobile phone, demanding ransom for his release.

After getting information from Peshawar police, the man’s rented car was traced through the tracker installed in it. During examination of CCTV footage, police also noticed another car moving along the kidnapped victim’s car.

Later, the suspicious car was found parked in Jhangi Syedan and the police mounted vigilance around it. On Friday, a man and a woman came over and tried to drive the car away.

However, a police team intercepted them which led to an encounter during which a constable and the suspect were injured.

Police arrested the woman and the injured suspect. After interrogation, the police raided the house and recovered the victim and arrested another suspect.

When contacted, a police spokesman said he will share the details after getting it in writing. SP Industrial Area Khan Zeb and the SHO Noon police Abdullah Masood were also reluctant to comment.
