SWABI: A woman and her daughter were shot dead by rivals over an enmity, the police said on Saturday.

Mukhtiar Ali of Dubian village registered an FIR with the Chota Lahor police station, stating that his wife, Shehnaz Begum and daughter, Sapna Ali, 17, were killed by their rivals over an old enmity.

He said his wife and daughter were on way home in Jalsai village in a rickshaw after appearing in a court when they were attacked on Manki-Jalsai Road near Pehur canal on Friday night.

He said he was in Haripur district when the incident occurred, and received a call from a relative that his wife and daughter had been killed.

Mukhtiar alleged his rivals Basit Khan, Harris Khan, Rabnawaz Khan and Sadiq Amin were involved in the double murder.

Chota Lahor police station SHO Altaf recalled that Faisal Khan of Yar Hussain, a relative of the suspected killers, had been killed on March 17. He said Tariq Ali, an uncle of the deceased, had named Mukhtiar Ali and his son, Shayan Khan in the FIR for the murder.

SHO Altaf said Mukhtiar and Shayan were arrested, but were later released on bail.
