ILLOGICAL PROCUREMENT: I fail to understand the logic behind the allocation of imported and expensive heavy motorcycles for Karachi traffic police when locally-assembled 125cc or 150cc motorcycles serve the purpose effectively in view of the rush on just about all city roads. Besides, I have never seen any traffic police official chasing down any vehicle at speeds of 100km/hour or more. That being so, why does the government need to spend a huge amount of money on such a luxury? Considering the current economic conditions, it is high time all governments cut down wasteful expenses. Moreover, the authorities should look into this critically important matter.

STREET CRIMES: Street crime is a loose term used for criminal offences that are taking place in public spaces, and refers to pick-pocketing, and snatching of mobile phones, wallets, purses and cars. When things go wrong, such incidents lead to injuries and even deaths. Besides, there is also the element of targeted killing. Just about every individual in Karachi today has a story to tell as no one is safe anymore. Unfortunately, the major causes of street crimes appear to be unemployment, illiteracy and poverty, but there are other factors as well, like lawlessness, growing fundamentalism, backwardness and double standards prevailing in society. The provincial government should take serious steps to control street crimes.

UNIFORM FOR LAW STUDENTS: One immediately recognises medical students as they wear lab coats. They are not even allowed to enter certain area within hospitals and clinics if they are not wearing the coat. Taking cue from that, I suggest that there should be something identifiable about those studying Law as well. The relevant authorities should consider the proposal and introduce a specific dress code for the law students as well.
