PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru announced on Tuesday the launch of an online app for wheat procurement aimed at facilitating farmers and suppliers.

The government has introduced the app to streamline services of farmers and suppliers.

In a video statement, Mr Toru said farmers and suppliers could feed information about their available wheat into the app, ultimately aiding the food department in its operations.

The app encompasses all necessary features for wheat procurement, and priority will be given to farmers and suppliers meeting the standards set by the food department, the minister said, adding starting from May 18, wheat would be procured from only those who adhered to standard operating procedures and provided quality grain.

The minister said that transparency and merit would be upheld throughout the wheat procurement process.
