Who hasn’t heard of the Baby Shark song? Finally, there is a Baby Shark Big feature-length movie — Baby Shark’s Big Movie that follows our favourite shark to Chomp City after Mommy Shark gets a new job. The Shark fam goes to live with Mommy’s friend Leah, whose daughter Lannie wants to be Baby Shark’s BFF.

The movie begins with the family of Baby Shark, who has to leave Carnivore Cove for Chomp City, a diverse city. If leaving friends and birthplace was torture for Baby, adjusting to a new life was terrible. A caring fish that helps everyone in need, Baby Shark tries hard to live without her best friend William, but to no avail.

The title ‘catchiest fish in the sea’ does not go well with Stariana, the evil fish that employs her mum. The self-centred Stariana does not like the Baby Shark’s song and wants to steal its gift of song, only to dominate all underwater music. A Thanos-inspired creature who is after a stone — just like Thanos was after the infinity stones — Stariana manages to get what she desires.

The animated musical film also features South Korean boy band ENHYPEN, whose concert is supposed to be the meeting point for Baby and gold pilotfish William, visiting from Carnivore Cove. The best friends also fight, but don’t stop talking. They make fin-ship bracelets, are inseparable and laugh together. The first time Baby and William hear ‘Stariana,’ Baby Shark thinks it’s repetitive. The way both count days to meet again reminds me of the pre-cellphone days when the connection between hearts was too strong.

With the peace of the seas threatened, Baby Shark sets out to restore harmony in the seas and must step up and fight the bad fish. The movie is all about caring for friends, standing up for what’s right and nostalgia. Who does not miss old friends and old lanes where they grew up? Baby Shark’s Big Movie is about old times.

Voiced by Kimiko Glenn, Baby Shark is the star of the show while Luke Youngblood dubs for William, whereas Ashley Tisdale is Stariana. American rappers Cardi B and Offset also reprise their Baby Shark Big Show! roles, Sharki B and Offshark, which is something to look forward to.
