KARACHI: A teenage student, who worked part-time at a call centre in Liaquatabad, was found shot dead at his workplace on Friday evening, police and rescuers said.

The Super Market police said that the victim was identified as 16-year-old Abdullah Mehmood. He lived in the same area near Jhanda Chowk.

The police said that Mehmood took his matric exam on Friday morning and returned to home. In the evening, he went to the call centre behind Rehmania Masjid in Liaquatabad-2. Someone on the office saw him lying dead on the floor. He suffered a single bullet wound in the face, the police said, adding that they recovered a pistol from the scene.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said that the owner of the call centre told the police that the pistol belonged to him but it was locked in his office. He said he was at his residence in Gulistan-i-Jauhar when the incident occurred.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police said they were probing as to whether it was a suicide or murder.

TTP suspect held

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant belonging to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), adds PPI.

According to a CTD spokesperson, Yousaf Khan, also known as Gul Yousaf, was apprehended during a raid on Manghopir Road.

He confessed to his involvement in multiple terrorist activities in South Waziristan, including a 2009 attack on the FC, the spokesperson said.
