FATE IN A SHAMBLES: In 2021, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) had announced 1,565 vacancies of headmaster and headmistress in BPS-17. However, the caretaker government reduced the number of seats to merely 300. After the SPSC conducted the tests, candidates from urban Sindh, contrary to the expectations of the candidates with domiciles from rural Sindh, passed the test with a score as low as 38 marks compared to 60 marks obtained by candidates from rural Sindh. The shortlisting criterion is rather perplexing.

LIBRARIES NEEDED: Libraries are essential to any effort aimed at improving a culture of reading both for academic and personality enrichment purposes. Without such a facility, students particularly suffer immensely. The lack of libraries in Khairpur is a case in point. The city is facing a shortage of libraries, while the existing ones are in a dilapidated condition. The government needs to chalk out a plan to establish more libraries in Khairpur.

CITIZEN’S PORTAL IN LIMBO: When it was functional, Pakistan Citizen’s Portal was a facilitating platform for the people to lodge their complaints without having to encounter any bureaucratic red tape. It was a direct link between the people and the authorities. It is unfortunate that the portal has not been functional these days. Will anyone at the helm of affairs resolve the issue?

BANKING FACILITIES: With a population of half-a-million, the district of Musakhail in Balochistan continues to be without proper banking facilities, with there being only one bank branch in the entire area, forcing people to stand in queue for hours. Besides, the bank branch does not have a functional ATM to facilitate the customers. The relevant authorities should consider facilitating the local population.
