TOBA TEK SINGH: Jarawala police arrested on Wednesday a seminary teacher who allegedly tortured a 12-year-old student over failing to memorise lesson.

Complainant Attaur Rehman of Rashid Park locality alleged in FIR registered under section 328A of Pakistan Penal Code that Qari Ihsan severely beat his son Shafiq. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also took notice of the incident and sought a report from IG Police in this regard.

The CM directed to provide excellent treatment facilities to the student.

She directed that legal action should be taken after ascertaining the responsible for committing torture of the student.

INJURED: Three rape suspects and two police officials were injured in an accident on Motorway M-3 near Pirmahal interchange on Wednesday.

According to the district police spokesperson, ASI Azhar Thaheem and Constable Muhammad Asif of Khanewal’s Tulamba police were transporting the three suspects in a private car to Lahore for DNA testing at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency laboratory. Near Pirmahal, its brakes failed, and it collided with a truck ahead, seriously injuring all five occupants.

They were shifted to Pirmahal Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where doctors referred ASI Azhar Thaheem to Toba DHQ Hospital.

KILLED: An under-arrest robber was killed in an encounter with Gojra city police on Wednesday.

The police said Abid was being shifted to recover looted valuables. Near a nullah outside Chak 370-JB on Bypass Road, his four unidentified accomplices on motorcycles opened fire on the van to set him free, while police officials also returned fire.

After the firing stopped, police found Abid injured, while his accomplices had fled. He was being shifted to hospital but succumbed to his wounds on the way.

The police said he died from bullets fired by his own accomplices. He was a resident of Nia Mandi area, Lahore Cantonment, and was involved in more than two dozen robberies in Lahore, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Pakpattan, and Toba districts.

ACCIDENT: A bus ran over two school students at Shorkot near Kausarabad Adda on Jhang-Multan Road on Wednesday.

The police said deceased Samar Abbas and injured Asif were crossing the road. The wounded child was shifted to Shorkot THQ hospital.

The bus was reportedly carrying students to Shorkot district government’s Chenab College.

ROBBERY: Five dacoits, including two women, looted the house of marble factory owner Shoaib Siddiq in Sharifpura locality of Gojra on Wednesday.

Reports said the women knocked on the gate, and when the womenfolk opened it, they with their accomplices forcibly entered the house, locked all family members in a room, and took away cash and golden ornaments worth more than Rs11m.
