NAROWAL: The mock drills by Rescue 1122 along with other departments before expected floods are aimed at saving human lives.
Joint mock exercises between departments will increase coordination and reduce human and financial loss.
These views were expressed by Narowal Deputy Commissioner Syed Hasan Raza while addressing a ceremony on the occasion of mock exercises in Marala Ravi (MR) Link Canal organised by Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122.
He said all institutions have been alerted to deal with the expected floods and natural disasters in the monsoon. The DC said all departments, including Rescue 1122, health, livestock, civil defence and irrigation, should check their capabilities.
Narowal District Emergency Officer Naeem Akhtar said the Rescue 1122 conducted mock exercises to test its efficiency and of other agencies on MR Link Canal.
On this occasion, the teams of Rescue 1122 demonstrated the emergency evacuation of people ‘trapped’ in flood-affected areas. The teams also gave a practical demonstration of providing first aid to ‘rescued’ people and transferring them to hospital.
