ISLAMABAD: Pakistan are set to host Australia for a three-match series next week, with the games to be played as part of the sides’ preparation for next month’s Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) announced on Thursday.

The matches will be held here at the Pakistan Sports Complex from Tuesday to Thursday, with Australia scheduled to reach the capital on Friday.

The PVF, as it said in a statement, expected the series to “be a display of high-level volleyball, showcasing the skills and competitive spirit of both the Pakistani and Australian teams”.

“It [this series] provides an excellent opportunity for the players to gain international experience and for fans to witness thrilling volleyball action,” read the PVF press release.

Following the conclusion of the series, the Australian squad will depart directly from Islamabad to Bahrain to participate in the AVC Challenge Cup, which is scheduled to be held from June 2-9 in Manama.

Pakistan will also proceed to Bahrain for participation in the AVC Challenge Cup “marking another significant opportunity for both teams to compete at a high level”, said the PVF.
