NEW DELHI, March 16: Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has called off his visit to India because of fears of renewed protests over cartoons insulting to Islam, Indian news reports said on Thursday.
They quoted Denmark’s Politiken newspaper as saying that Copenhagen and New Delhi had reached a “mutual agreement” to postpone the April 2-7 visit of Mr Rasmussen until further notice.
IANS news agency said the Danish foreign ministry on Wednesday invited ambassadors of 40 countries that witnessed protests over the cartoons to a discussion on the decision of state prosecutor Henning Fode not to pursue charges against Jyllands-Posten.
