BAHAWALPUR: A minor girl suffered serious burns in an alleged acid attack in Burewala.

According to police, nine-year-old Fatima was returning from her school when an unidentified cyclist threw acid on her face and fled. As a result of the attack, the child suffered critical burns. Police and Rescue 1122 shifted her to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The Burewala City police registered a case against the unidentified attacker.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons were killed and four others suffered serious injuries in road accidents in Hasilpur and Vehari.

According to Rescue 1122, in the Hasilpur accident, two passengers, Muhammad Owais (18) of Bahawalnagar and Ghulam Haider (50) of Hasilpur, were killed while Zubair (30) suffered serious injuries when a speeding Multan-bound bus hit a rickshaw at Muhammad Panah Mor on Chishtian road.

The bodies as well as the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hasilpur while police took the bus driver in custody.

In the Vehari accident, Muhammad Idrees (70) was killed and Fiza (20), Saad(10) and Nawaz (55) were injured critically when there was a collision between a bus and pick-up van near the railway crossing on the Multan Road. The injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital Vehari.

SEIZED: A team led by AC Multan Seemal Mushtaq raided an oil mill near Babar Chowk on Vehari Road in Multan and seized over 65,000kg of illegal sulfur worth about Rs100m from the mills.

They arrested two persons during the raid.
