LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has questioned daily meetings of incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan by the court of law.

“In the most serious cases, the courts are allowing daily meetings with the imprisoned PTI founder leader. Other prisoners are also objecting to the facilities provided to Imran Khan,” Ms Bokhari said in a statement on Saturday. She said Imran and his party leaders were spreading hatred and incitement on a daily basis.

“The Punjab government will no longer allow this propaganda to spread. When Mian Nawaz Sharif had been imprisoned in Adiala Jail and Kot Lakhpat Jail, he was allowed to meet visitors only once a week. The PTI founder on the other hand is undergoing imprisonment on the charges of theft of precious gifts, watches, displaying ciphers and in the 190 million pounds case,” she said and added Mr Khan should stop repeating his narrative that the nation was with him. She taunted Imran, saying that solitary confinement of the jail had affected him and he was dreaming of becoming the prime minister again.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has welcomed the statement of investment of $10bn by the UAE.

“The pledge of $10bn investment is an undeniable proof of foreign countries’ confidence in the PML-N government. Positive economic indicators augur well for a better economic future of Pakistan,” she said and added Pakistan’s stock market was setting new records day by day. She said the government was focused on giving maximum relief to people by bringing down inflation.
