KARACHI: A man was shot dead allegedly by his son-in-law over a family dispute in Federal B. Area on Saturday morning, police said.

They added that Hasnain Mirza, 65, was killed in the house of his son-in-law.

Samanabad SHO Shahid Rao said victim Hasnain’s daughter had complained to him about the behaviour of her husband, Yasoob Haider.

Hasnain went there and a heated argument took place between him and Yasoob, after which the suspect opened fire on him and fled.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and City police jointly conducted an intelligence-based raid in the Eidgah area and arrested a suspect, Mohammed Hamid alias Hamid Piya, and recovered a grenade from his custody.

A Rangers spokesperson said the held suspect was earlier associated with the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (formerly MQM-Haqiqi) but later joined the MQM-London.
