ANGRY PEOPLE: Famous sportswriter and baseball executive Ford Frick once said: “Keep your temper. A decision made in anger is never sound”. Someone needs to convey this quote to the higher-ups in Pakistan where everyone seems to be in an angry mood. It seems that anguish has taken over all our decisions that are obviously riddled with errors and shall bring no good to the country. It is high time those who matter took a cool break.

DRIVING LICENCE WOES: As the expiry date of my driving licence came close, I applied for its renewal a month-and-a-half earlier to avoid any violation of law. My thought to get my licence before the expiry date proved to be a folly. Despite paying a hefty sum of Rs10,000, I have been waiting for it to date. Is it how a law-abiding citizen treated in the country? The relevant department must get its house in order first before boasting of the services it supposedly delivers.

PROLONGED LOADSHEDDING: People in Khuzdar have for long been suffering from prolonged loadshedding. After electronic appliances one after another suffered at the hands of power fluctuations and outages, people have been forced to adopt ancient methods of sustaining life. As such, the current agony of unscheduled loadshedding is made worse by the non-availability of natural gas. The government should come to the rescue of the people.

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES: The stretch of road in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area which divides blocks 4 and 7 has become a death trap for commuters and pedestrians alike. Unfortunately, the drivers show no consideration for the pedestrians crossing the road. This has resulted in countless accidents. Building pedestrian bridges has become inevitable. The relevant authorities should immediately initiate the process in this regard.
