LAHORE: Incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Aaliya Hamza has in an open letter lamented that the Form-47 government was frightened from 74-year-old cancer survivor Dr Yasmin Rashid who was sent to jail without completing the antibiotic course advised by a medical board.

She stated that Dr Yasmin Rashid was required to pay Rs5,000 for an uncleaned room in the hospital, while former premier Nawaz Sharif had flown to the UK on a Rs50 stamp paper.

Ms Hamza said former premier Imran Khan had incarcerated Nawaz Sharif’s daughter in his neighbouring cell and even constructed a new bathroom.

In her letter, she stated, Dr Rashid had reached her cell while feebly smiling in her wheel-chair. Listing Dr Rashid’s achievements during her tenure as health minister and Covid period, Ms Hamza said she had unfairly been kept in jail for over one year.

During wars, she said, even the enemy spared women, children, elderly and sick people but

the incumbent government had stooped too low and not even caring about the norms of humanity.
