MIANWALI: A BS student from Thal University, Bhakkar, was rescued by passersby while attempting to jump into the Thal canal to die by suicide.

She was handed over to the Bhakkar city police, where she revealed a horrific story of gang rape.

The student alleged that a group of students abducted her from outside the university and took her to their hostel, where they assaulted her and made a video. When she passed out, they abandoned her in a nearby jungle.

She alleged that such incidents were common in the university and survivors were blackmailed by the perpetrators.

The city police registered a case against eight nominated students and obtained a medical report.

The survivor’s brother appealed to the chief minister to take notice of the incident and ensure exemplary punishment for the culprits.

A university spokesperson condemned the incident and expressed full support for the girl.

The university administration has expelled the alleged perpetrators and banned them from entering the university, and their final term results have been withheld.

The incident occurred in a private hostel outside the university compound.

As of the filing of this report, the city police had not arrested any of the suspects.
