TAXILA: A sum of Rs32,514 billion would be spent on the execution of 113 development projects in Attock district, including health, education, infrastructure rehabilitation, sports and agriculture, said Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza.

He said this while briefing the meeting of the District Coordination Committee held at the conference hall on Thursday.

The meeting was presided over by member of the National Assembly and convener of the District Coordination Committee Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, and attended by former Chairman Municipal Committee Attock Nasir Mahmood Sheikh, PML-N Attock District President Saleem Shahzad, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Aneel Saeed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Nausheen Asrar, assistant commissioners of all six tehsils, and officials of health, education, sports, public health engineering and district council.

In the meeting, various issues concerning livestock markets were discussed, and participants were informed that cattle markets would soon be set up after Congo virus prevention measures were ensured, providing all possible facilities to cattle owners and buyers.

The meeting was informed that every possible step is being taken to reduce prices of essential commodities, and further instructions would be issued to price magistrates in this regard. Participants were informed that the Punjab government had imposed a ban on the use of plastic shopping bags from June 6 to protect the environment, requiring full cooperation from all stakeholders. Additionally, a tree-planting campaign will be launched soon.

Matter related to Clean Punjab was also discussed in the meeting, emphasising the need for special attention in the district, particularly Hazro. Issues such as loadshedding, school upgrading, law and order and other public matters were also deliberated upon during the meeting.

Addressing the participants, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said the federal and provincial governments were undertaking unparalleled and historic steps for public development and welfare.

Mr Ahmed also directed authorities to ensure the transparent use of funds and for development projects to be accomplished timely and according to set standards. He urged officials of executive agencies to ensure quality according to the required standard of work in various development schemes in the district.
