SWABI/MARDAN: A team of high ranking officials visited China Camp at Tarbela Dam and reviewed security arrangements for Chinese engineers and other staff there.

According to a statement, Mardan Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, Regional Police Officer Najibur Rahman and Swabi police chief Haroon Rashid Khan visited China Camp and directed security personnel to alert round the clock.

“Keeping in view recent events in the country, security arrangements for Chinese engineers living in the camp were reviewed,” said a police official.

The visiting officials checked every nook and corner of the camp and reviewed all security arrangements. They ordered foolproof security of Chinese engineers. They said that district police were responsible for the security of Chinese nationals. They told officials on duty that no laxity in security would be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that government was committed to resolving problems and disputes of people through alternative dispute resolution programme.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) cell at Commissioner Office in Mardan on Thursday.

Additional Commissioner Naeem Akhtar and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Fayaz Khan Sherpao were also present on the occasion.

Secretary to commissioner and focal person for ADR, Sara Tuhab, briefed the meeting. She said that the ADR system would play a fundamental role in resolving disputes among people. She added that the system would help people to get rid of lengthy procedures of police and court.

She said that ADR system was already functional at district level. She said that six applications were received by the cell in Mardan tehsil last month and the disputes were resolved amicably with the consent of parties concerned.

The commissioner said that the system would help in resolving local disputes. “It has legal protection and a formal law regarding the system has been passed by the provincial assembly,” he said.

He said that people should take benefits of ADR system in their respective districts to resolve their disputes so that they could get relief and their problems were resolved through mutual negotiations.
