Shy Guy

After taking part in Netflix’s critically acclaimed series The Crown, television and film actor Humayun Saeed, in a manner of speaking, is a global star. You might think that he is one of those celebs who don’t beat about the bush. Well, he is not… according to him. The actor has claimed that he was, and still is, incredibly shy. Yep, we believe you Humayun S. The viewers were, and still are, incredibly gullible.

Miss Substance

This year Pakistan not only had a central hub at the prestigious Cannes Films Festival but will be remembered for one more thing, nay person. Miss Universe Pakistan, Erica Robin! She, too, made her first appearance at the event. Where exactly was she? Well, she was seen strutting her stuff at the red carpet during the premiere of the film The Substance, starring Demi Moore. You know what this means, right? This means Erica R is a true woman of substance.

Truthful Cate

At certain international events, there’s a ban on protests against the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people. But intelligent artists always find a way to express themselves. Last week, at the Cannes Film Festival, Oscar winner Australian actress Cate Blanchett (who some believe is the best actress of her generation) wore a dress whose colour scheme matched, not in an in-your-face manner, with the Palestinian flag. Obviously, the organisers couldn’t do anything about it. Cate B, keep rocking and keep flagging the truth.

J-Lo Snapback

Rumour is rife for the past few weeks that there’s trouble in the Ben Affleck-Jennifer Lopez household, meaning, their (second) marriage is getting a bit rocky. So when J-Lo was addressing a presser to promote her Netflix movie Atlas, a journo asked the question point-blank about their relationship. After a bit of a pregnant pause, the actress/singer replied: “You know better than that.” Not just that, her co-actor in the film Simu Liu jumped in to keep the journalist in check, “Don’t come in here with that.” We agree with J-Lo. Everybody knows better than that.

Momoa in Love

Earlier in May, Jason Momoa hinted on Instagram that he is seeing someone. A little later, the actor visited Japan for his TV series On the Roam, from where he posted a message thanking the Japanese people profusely for their hospitality and for having an adventure “with mi amor.” Now it’s out in the open that the Game of Thrones star is dating actress Adria Arjona who is 12 years younger than him (he is 44). Both were spotted at a bar in Nashville coochie-cooing, hugging and all that jazz. Right now life for Jason M is a game of amour.

Heat Attack

Shah Rukh Khan, who owns the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was in Ahmadabad to witness a match between his team and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The temperature in the city was 45 degrees C, because of which the king of Bollywood suffered severe dehydration, felt dizzy and was immediately taken to a hospital. After initial treatment, he was released from the facility, hale and hearty. It goes to show that even jawans and Pathaans (who thrash hundreds of goondas) can’t beat the heat.

Instead of ‘hard state’ turning even harder, citizens deserve a state that goes soft on them in delivering democratic and development aspirations.

If it's committed to peace in Balochistan, the state must draw a line between militancy and legitimate protest.
