Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Joe Biden is an opportunity for peace that “all parties must seize”.

In a post on social media, Trudeau said the proposed deal to end the onslaught on Gaza could “end the suffering” and was an opportunity to “return to a path of peace”.

“Canada has been calling for an immediate ceasefire, an urgent increase in unhindered humanitarian assistance, and the release of all hostages,” he said.
