KOHAT: Two young men were killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a trailer truck near the tunnel toll plaza on the Indus Highway here on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Jasim and Zain, hailing from Charbagh and Pirkhel areas of Junglekhel.

Rescue 1122 ambulances shifted the bodies to the KDA Teaching Hospital, where after autopsy they were handed over to their families.

SUPPLY RESTORED: Power supply was completely restored to the affected areas on Saturday 34 hours after a fire in the 132KV grid station on Rawalpindi Road damaged several feeders on Thursday evening.

A technical team from Peshawar, which was called immediately after the blaze, repaired all the affected feeders.

The consumers, who braved heat and water shortage, took a sigh of relief.

Initially, power supply was released from 11pm on Friday to 10am on Saturday so the people could sleep and fill water tanks.

Services of mobile companies also remained suspended during the course of the outage.

Then the grid station again remained shut for complete repairs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday after which it was made fully operational.

JAIL VISIT: District and sessions judge Sofia Vaqar visited the Kohat jail on Saturday and asked jail superintendent Abdul Bari to submit the data of the prisoners having completed their two-year terms.

Similarly, she also demanded details of the undertrials. She also visited different sections of the jail, including women and juvenile barracks, hospital and skills centre.

The judge also planted a sapling on the jail premises.

Meanwhile, residents of Phase-II of posh KDA Township on Saturday demanded closure of all the stone crushing plants operating along the main road.

They made the demand during a meeting held here.

They said factories and stone crushing plants operating along the Peshawar-Kohat Road up to the KDA Hospital should be banned.
