TAXILA: A milkman was shot dead by armed robbers in Banni mohalla area in the limits of Taxila police station on Saturday.
According to the eye witnesses, 21-year-old Habibur Rehman was going to his cattle yard after delivering milk, when three armed robbers intercepted him and tried to snatch his motorcycle and valuables. When he resisted, the robbers shot him dead and fled with looted items.
Separately, two armed robbers snatched cash and valuables from Mohammad Irfan at gunpoint in Galli Darian and fled.
In another incidents, two armed men snatched cash and mobile phones from Mohammad Miraj in Jameelabad area and fled.
Moreover, two armed robbers riding on a motorcycle deprived Tahir Mir of two mobile phones and cash worth Rs400,000.
In Wah Saddar area, burglars broke into the house of Kashif Iqbal Butt and deprived him of cash and valuables worth Rs400,000.
Meanwhile, Malik Junaid, a native of Chhokar village near Pind Nowsheri while addressing a press conference accused SHO Raja Gulltaj and investigating officer (IO) Qaisar for extorting Rs300,000 for lodging first investigation report (FIR) of the theft of his seven cows amounting to Rs1.10 million.
He said that on his identification, police recovered the stolen cows from Haripur, but the investigating officer further demands a sum of Rs200,000 for getting possession of his recovered cattle despite the court orders.
