LAHORE: The Punjab government has initiated the process of appointing regular vice chancellors (VCs) at 25 universities of the province as applications are being sought for the posts.

The age limit for candidates has been set at 65 years, ruling out most of the former VCs.

The universities for which applications are being sought include the University of the Punjab, Government College University, Lahore, Government College University, Faisalabad, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, University of Gujrat, University of Education, Lahore, University of Narowal, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, University of Kamalia, University of Layyah, Thal University Bhakkar, University of Okara, University of Jhang, Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan, Information Technology University of the Punjab, Lahore, Government College Women University, Sialkot, Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Government College Women University, Faisalabad, Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, Women University, Multan, and University of Home Economics, Lahore.

It’s worth mentioning that only women applicants were asked to apply for the post of VCs in the Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, Women University, Multan, and University of Home Economics, Lahore.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications along with supporting documents to the secretary Higher Education Department till June 24.

The government’s decision to appoint regular Vice Chancellors has been welcomed by the academic community that believes that the postings will help in addressing the challenges faced by the universities.
