KOHAT: The residents of several villages of Garhi Risaldar area on Sunday blocked the Bannu Road here against the excessive electric loadshedding and low voltage.

They demanded that the overloaded Pakistan Railways sleeper factory feeder should be bifurcated and several villages attached to it should have a separate feeder to rid the residents of 18 hours of loadshedding.

Malik Dilawar Khan, chairman of Sada-i-Kohat, a welfare body, its vice-chairman Rahat Naveed, social activists Mohammad Riaz and Salman Shah led the protest rally.

They also assailed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company for not fully restoring the electric supply from the Rawalpindi Road grid station after the lapse of 72 hours of fire in it on Thursday night, leaving thousands of consumers suffering in the sizzling heat.

They said that the only solution to put an end to 18-hour load-shedding and voltage fluctuation was installing separate feeders for railway sleeper factory and villages.

Meanwhile, the consumers of Junglekhel area also blocked traffic on the old Indus Highway to protest excessive outages.

The protesters also criticised the lawmakers over their ‘apathy’ to the people’s misery.
