LAKKI MARWAT: Three people, including a former nazim, were killed and two others received injuries in separate firing incidents in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts on Sunday.

In Bannu, unknown armed men attacked a former tehsil naib nazim, Malik Ishaq Khan, 41, and his companion, Mohammad Nazir, 31, in Dheri Mamandkhel area, killing them on the spot, said the police.

The double murder took place in the jurisdiction of cantonment police station.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

A case was registered against unknown killers under relevant sections of law, the police said.

Adnan Khan, a relative of the deceased nazim, told police that the family had no enmity with anyone. He said that the deceased was affiliated with polio eradication initiative, and at the time of occurrence he was returning home on a motorcycle after attending a training session of polio observers held at a civil dispensary.

He told police that he was at home when someone informed him that the bodies of Ishaq and Nazir were lying in Dheri Mamandkhel area.

Police launched an investigation after registration of a case against unknown killer(s).

Separately, a man was killed and two others, including a woman, were wounded when rival groups clashed over a land dispute in Kuttikhel area of Lakki Marwat.

Police identified the deceased as Feroz, 50, and said Zarkana Bibi, 24, sister of the deceased, and Amanullah, 24, from the other side, were injured in the exchange of fire.

The police registered a case against the attackers from both the sides.
