ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has been doing all efforts to financially empower women from the poorest of the poor families through its financial and other multi-faceted welfare projects.
Chairperson of the social protection system Rubina Khalid reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to the vision of Benazir, focusing on women empowerment and financial independence.
She was talking to a delegation from the National Institute of Management (NIM), Peshawar, at the BISP headquarters here on Wednesday.
She informed the delegation that the social safety net had been working in partnership with different organisations and MoUs have been signed aimed to provide skill and technical training to the members of beneficiary families, enabling them to get out of poverty.
She informed the delegation about different initiatives the social protection system has launched for the uplift of the poor deserving families.
These include Kafaalat, Taleemi Wazaif, Nashonuma, undergraduate scholarship, and the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).
NSER database is utilised by various public and private organisations for different social welfare projects, the participants were informed.
Nashonuma Programme has been specifically launched in order to combat the critical issues of stunting and malnutrition among mothers and children.
