SWABI: Two friends were shot dead in Kala village while separately an senior citizen drowned in Gohati canal here on Thursday.

Mohammad Ibrahim, brother of one of the deceased Mohammad Asim, told police that he was at home when he got the information that his brother and a relative, Ishtiaq Ali, were killed by unknown persons in Kala mountainous area.

He claimed that both were shot dead by Muzamil Khan and his two other unidentified accomplices. He said before the incident, they were invited to the spot on mobile phone where they were killed under a well-planned strategy.

The cause of the incident was stated to be a one-and-a-half-month old feud in which Mohammad Asim was injured in firing by Muzamil Khan. Mohammad Ibrahim claimed that Muzamil took the extreme step as he was expecting a revenge attack from Asim.

Police have registered an FIR and started investigation.

Meanwhile, Gul Mohammad, 80, drowned in Gohati canal on Thursday when he was bathing on its bank but slipped into deep water, Rescue 1122 officials said. Saqib Shah, a rescue official, told Dawn that soon after receiving information they reached the canal, recovered the body and handed it over to the family.

Also in the day, dead bodies of two youngsters, who had drowned in the Indus River four days back, were recovered in Hund area by local divers on Thursday.

The bodies of two youngsters, Zaweer Ahmad, 17, and Mohammad Tayyab, 16, were handed over to their families for burial. They were hailing from Garmunara village.
