SARGODHA: The Sargodha police killed Ahtesham, alias Sham, in a controversial encounter on Friday.

The police quickly buried the body in Bajwa Colony cemetery, allegedly to avoid legal action from the victim’s family.

Ahtesham’s father said his son was innocent and was killed in a fake encounter.

The police have promised to provide a statement on the incident later.

HELD: The Saddar police arrested seven suspects from an inter-district gang involved in kidnapping for ransom.

The gang had demanded Rs10 million for the release of Akhtar and Saif.

The police recovered vehicles, mobile phones, and documents from the suspects. The arrested suspects belong to Azad Kashmir, Rawalpindi and Sargodha districts.

PROTEST: The police have registered a case against 74 protesters who resisted an anti-encroachment operation on the bank of the canal at Pul 111 stop on Faisalabad Road.

The protesters, allegedly affiliated with the occupation mafia, pelted stones at government vehicles and set tyres on fire.

The police are investigating the incident.
