MUZAFFARGARH: District Officer Environment Suraj Kumar poured water into six brick kilns for using substandard fuel, stopped work and sealed them in the town of Basira.

Mr Kumar said that substandard fuel was being used in the kilns and their smoke was not only causing air pollution but also several diseases in the residents of the surrounding area.

Apart from this, Suraj Kumar said, the kilns were not using zigzag technology as per the government policy. He added that action was taken against the kilns under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Muzaffargarh Nasir Shahzad. He said water was poured into the kilns with the help of a team of Rescue 1122.

The kilns have been shut down and sealed. The would be allowed to work if they complied with the regulations.
