LAHORE: A rickshaw driver, Azeem, of Chungi Amar Sidhu, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday after being attacked by three people who demanded a rickshaw stand fee in Factory Area on June 6.

Suspects Khurrum, Arslan, and Ahmad beat Azeem when he refused to pay the fee. Police have added murder charges to the case and are investigating.

The relatives of the deceased gathered on the spot and launched a protest against the killing of the driver. They demanded that the police arrest the suspects who fled the scene. The police also resorted to baton charge to clear the road for traffic.

The victim’s family alleged that the police were not arresting the suspects after two days.

SUICIDE: A 40-year-old man, Ali Raza, allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself in the head in Gulberg on Saturday. Police said Raza suffered from a mental disorder and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

ACCIDENT: Young motorcyclist Abdul Hadi was killed and his brother Abdullah Khan injured when a speeding car hit them in Defense C police jurisdiction. Car driver Mujtaba Waqas fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
