BAHAWALPUR: A man, in connivance with his three accomplices, allegedly kidnapped and killed his 12-year-old nephew at Chak 113-10/R in the limits of the Jahanian police area near Lodhran.

According to police sources, Arian Mushtaq went missing from his house three days ago and his body was found in a nearby canal.

District Police Officer Ismail Kharak said the child’s uncle, Shoaib, along with his accomplices, had abducted the child three days ago and demanded Rs5m ransom from his father Mushtaq. But before the deal could be struck, the suspects killed the boy and threw his body into the canal.

CONGO: The livestock department has issued a high alert of Congo virus in Multan and directed the officials to intensify spray on the sacrificial animals in the region.

According to the department’s warning, the special livestock counters had been set up with ample stocks of medicines near the cattle markets and 22 sale points of sacrificial animals in the Multan division.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed while seven others suffered serious injuries in two road accidents in the district.

According to Rescue 1122, in the first accident, a loader-rickshaw occupied by eight persons coming from Mailsi was hit by a speeding car near Chak 5-BC on the Hasilpur Road. Nusrat Mai (32) was killed in the crash while Asia Bibi, Faizan, Maqsood, Saira Bibi, Nazo Mai, Shaila and Sultan suffered serious injuries. They were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

In the second accident, Azhar, a motorcyclist, travelling on the southern bypass fell down and died on the spot. The rescuers could not ascertain the cause of death. His body was shifted to the BVH.

SHOT DEAD: A young boy, Naveed Ahmed, was allegedly shot dead by two suspects, Zeeshan Akhtar Baloch and Owais Baloch, while playing cricket near the Police Lines in Lodhran.

The attackers fled away on their motorcycle after the incident while the police shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital Lodhran for a post-mortem. The police suspected that an old enmity might be the cause of the accident.

PTI CONVENTION: A PTI workers convention was held in Khanewal city.

According to the PTI circles, the City police attempted to disrupt the convention venue and disperse the participants by issuing threats.

South Punjab PTI president Aon Abbas and others conveyed the message of Imran Khan to the participants.
