SUKKUR, March 19: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Senator Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro has termed bulldozing of villages in Karachi an act of bias and terrorism and said that hundreds of Sindhi families have been rendered homeless. In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said he had recorded protest on the issue during a session of the senate.

He accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of trying to convert Sindhis into a minority in the province through such actions. He warned the MQM leadership to refrain from such policies.

Meanwhile, Dr Soomro, while speaking at a public gathering at the Madressah Tajul Uloom in Madina Colony, Sukkur, on Saturday night, criticized military operations in Waziristan and Balochistan, proposed construction of the Kalabagh dam and demolition of villages in Karachi.

In a statement issued in Sukkur, Jamaat-i-Islami MNA Asadullah Bhutto criticized bulldozing of villages in Karachi and demanded that the government should rehabilitate affected people and pay them compensation.
