RAWALPINDI: As many as nine cattle sale points became functional in the district Rawalpindi while district administration received 220 applications from the religious seminaries, philanthropists and purchasers for collection of sacrificial animals hides during Eidul Azha.

A senior official of the district administration told Dawn that the banned outfits, political and religious parties, organisations and NGOs are prohibited from to collecting sacrificialanimalhides during Eidul Azha.

The government has issued notification directing the administration to allow only those organisation, group or trust which had had permit from the district administration to collect the hides.

“We received 220 applications, including 124 from religious seminaries, 22 philanthropists and trusts and 74 from the purchasers of skin, by June 8deadline,” said Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema while talking to Dawn.

He said that the administration would impose section 144 in those areas where arrangements for collective slaughtering have been made to discourage hides snatching.

He said that decision on the applications would be made in two to three days after getting input from special branch in this regard.

He said that the administration also allocated nine sale points in the district so people could get sacrificial animals in safe and clean environment. He said that all necessary facilities would be ensured at cattle markets and sale points. He said that livestock department had been asked to check the health of all animals at sale points.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Aamir Khattak also reviewed the arrangements for cattle markets in the division. The meeting was informed in the briefing that apart from these sale points, Cattle Management Company has set up cattle markets at six places across the division.

It was directed said that cleanliness should be given special focus and the presence of agriculture, RWMC, Civil Defense and Livestock officials should be ensured in every cattle market and sale point.

Sale points extablished in Rawalpindi at Bhata Chowk, Misrial Road, Gulistan Colony, Dhoke Hasu, Kalyal, Mandra Stop Ground, Gujar Khan, New Sharif Hospital GT Road Wah Cantt, HIT near Sunday Bazaar in Taxila , Mangala Bypass in Kalkar Syedan Sakhi Sabazwari chowk in Kahuta.
