LAKKI MARWAT: Eleven terrorists were killed in an operation in Lakki Marwat district around Monday midnight, military’s media wing said.

The intelligence-based operation was conducted in response to the Sunday attack on a security forces vehicle that claimed the lives of seven personnel, including an army officer, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

To bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district on the night of June 10 and 11, ISPR said.

During the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, as result of which multiple terrorist hideouts were busted and 11 terrorists were successfully neutralised, according to the ISPR.

A sanitisation operation was being carried out to eliminate any other militants found in the area, it said, adding that security forces were determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.

A local official said the operation was launched in the mountains of Surband area, some 30km from the Lakki Marwat city. He said the security forces had credible information about the presence of militants involved in the recent attack on the security forces carried out with the help of improvised explosive device.

He said the troops also destroyed hideouts of militants in the mountainous area.
