DERA ISMAIL KHAN/LOWER DIR: The Dera, Tank and Lower Dir police on Friday finalised security plans for Eidul Azha.

Tank district police officer Abdul Salam Khalid, while chairing a meeting, issued a security plan, saying around 500 police officers and jawans would ensure peace on the auspicious occasion.

An official said SP investigations Haji Nasir Khan, DSP city Salim Khan, DSP Jandola Syed Marjan Khan all SHOs and other police officials participated.

DPO Khalid effective patrolling would be ensured to keep an eye on suspected elements.

He directed foolproof security arrangements at mosques, bazaars and cattle markets. He said strict action would be taken against the violators of the ban on one-wheeling and firing in the air.

Also, Dera district police officer Nasir Mehmood directed comprehensive security arrangements to ensure law and order during Eidul Azha.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting to review security arrangements for Eid.

SP city Tayyab Jan, SP Saddar Khalid Usman, DSPs of Saddar, city, Paroa, Paharpur, Kulachi circles and SHOs of all police stations attended the meeting.

The DPO stressed the need for special security measures at cattle markets, bazaars, places of worship, and all key locations vulnerable to potential terrorist attacks.

He said it was the responsibility of police to take special measures to protect the life and property of people.

He directed strict checking at the entrance and exit points of the Dera city.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir district police officer Mazhar Iqbal has said his department has devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace on Eidul Azha.

Talking to reporters on Friday, he said sensitive locations, mosques and bazaars would be protected on Eid days. He said traffic police had been directed to keep the traffic flow smooth. DPO Iqbal said the district had been divided into four sectors and more than 1,600 police officials would perform security duties. He said police patrolling had been increased, while strict checking at all entry and exit points had been ordered.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir Rescue 1122 district emergency officer Ibrar Ali said all leaves of staffers had been cancelled to provide prompt services to citizens in case of emergency during Eid days.
