ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Chief Commissioner Mohammad Ali Randhawa on Friday presided over a meeting which finalised arrangements for Eidul Azha.

It was decided in the meeting that more than 2,500 personnel will participate in the cleanliness operation during Eidul Azha.

The meeting was attended by the deputy commissioner, senior officers of CDA, Islaambad Capital Territory and Islamabad police.

A control room has been established in Islamabad Safe City to monitor the special operation on the occasion of Eid. It will work under the supervision of DIG Operations and deputy commissioner.

Special security arrangements have also been made at all mosques, imambargahs, markets, important buildings and public places in line with the directions of the CDA chairman.

Over 3,500 workers to perform duties in Rawalpindi

The meeting was informed that the leaves of officers and officials of Sanitation Directorate had been cancelled. Apart from the CDA officers, the assistant commissioners will also supervise this special operation. The meeting was also briefed that more than 200 vehicles would be used in the special cleanliness operation, including tractor trolleys, garbage compactors, scoop lifters and dumpers.

It was further informed that the city had been divided into five zones to ensure cleanliness. Zone-I includes sectors F-5 and F-6, Blue Area and Saidpur while Zone-II includes Faisal Mosque, sectors E-7, F-7, F-8 and G-8.

Similarly, sectors F-10, F-11, Golra Sharif, G-9, G-10, G-11 falls in Zone-IIIwhile Zone IV includes sectors H-8, H-9, H-10, H-11, I-8, I-9, I-10, I-11. Similarly, Zone-V includes areas of Islamabad Expressway, Model Village Humak, Shahzad Town, Rawal Town and Margalla Town.

Each zone will be supervised by the chief sanitary inspector while sanitary inspectors and supervisors will perform their services in the sectors.

Bio-degradable bags are also being distributed free of cost in urban and rural areas of Islamabad on Eidul Azha, in which animal waste will be disposed of.

Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has finalised the cleanliness plan for Eidul Azha.

About 3,832 workers will perform duties while 450 vehicles will participate in cleanliness operation during the Eid holidays.

The company will set up 18 permanent and 43 mobile transfer stations in Rawalpindi city and tehsils.

For awareness, three camps have been set up at Committee Chowk, Sixth Road and Commercial Market. Besides, control and monitoring room will also be set up at the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company head office whereas the Helpline No 1139, Android Mobile App Clean Rawalpindi will work round the clock for redressal of complaints.

Wah

The Wah Cantonment Board’s sanitation department has formulated a comprehensive plan to dispose of the remains of sacrificial animals in a timely and effective manner during Eidul Azha.

Cantonment Executive Officer Jawwad Aslam Butt, while briefing about the cleanliness plan, said the leave of the sanitation staff had been cancelled while the relevant staff would work round the clock to remove the offal of sacrificial animals and other debris during the three days of Eidul Azha.

Responding to a question, Mr Butt said that to ensure cleanliness, Wah has been demarcated into nine different sectors with their own sector in-charges.

He said teams would be provided rickshaws, large pick-ups, wheelbarrows to take away offal.

Iesco to ensure power supply

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has completed work to ensure power supply and redress customers’ complaints within the minimum time during Eidul Azha.

Iesco Chief Executive Dr Mohammad Amjad Khan, in his statement, said a monitoring room in the head office and six at the operation circles level had been established where officers and supporting staff would monitor power supply continuity on 1,344 feeders and 114 grid stations.

He said that complaint staff throughout Iesco region will remain on alert and to meet any emergency, extra material had been provided to complaint offices.

“Chief engineer operation Mohammad Aslam Khan, being the focal person, will monitor all activities personally,” he added.
