RAWALPINDI: As moist currents from the Arabian sea are likely to penetrate upper and central parts of the country, the Met Office has predicted rain and thunderstorm from June 18 till 22.
A shallow westerly wave is also likely to approach western parts of the country on June 18.
Under the influence of this weather system, dust and thunderstorm-rain is expected in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala on Friday (evening/night). Very hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of Punjab from June 16 to 18th.
Similarly, rain and wind/thundershower are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Layyah from June 20 to 22.
In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, thunderstorm-rain is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday (evening/night) or Saturday morning. Hot and dry weather is likely in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on June 16 and 17.
Rain-wind/thunderstorm is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar districts while in Kashmir, rain has been forecast in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur from June 18 to 22 with occasional gaps. Few heavyfalls are also likely in Kashmir during the period.
Thunderstorm-rain has also been predicted in Dir, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Kohistan, Chitral, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram and Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday (evening/night) or Saturday morning. Very hot and dry weather is also expected in the southern parts of the province from June 16 to 18.
In Balochistan, very hot and dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the province from June 16 to 18. However, duststorm/thunderstorm with rain is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Kohlu, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti and Barkhan from June 20 to 22nd.
Very hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh from June 17 to 20th whereas duststorm/gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorm has been forecast in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Larkana on June 21 and 22nd.
