RAWALPINDI: Mr Liaquat Ali Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, today [June 14] declared that the Government of Pakistan would never accept any decision against the wishes of the people of Kashmir which would make them slaves of Hindu India. Addressing a large meeting of refugees at Wah … Mr Liaquat Ali Khan reiterated that a fair and impartial plebiscite was the only just and peaceful way to settle the Kashmir problem. “We have always stood for that and that is our stand even today,” he said. The Prime Minister hoped that India would honour the Kashmir cease-fire agreement in the same sincere spirit as Pakistan had done and thus help to decide the Kashmir issue amicably by a fair ... plebiscite.

The Prime Minister assured the refugees that the people and the Government of Pakistan would never rest until the people of Kashmir had won their freedom and they would never shrink from making the biggest sacrifice to achieve that end.

… Mr Liaquat Ali Khan paid glowing tributes to the Muslims of the West Punjab for accepting and welcoming several hundred thousand refugees with open arms from East Punjab and Kashmir.
