DADU: Five persons were killed and 11 of the same extended family were injured when a truck ran over a loader-rickshaw on Khairpur Nathan Shah-Mehar bypass at Mureed Khoso village, about 60 kilometres from here, on Saturday.

A total of 16 men and women of Khoso tribe were returning to Pir Lakhi village in Shikarpur taluka onboard the three-wheeler after attending urs of Mian Naseer Mohammad Kalhoro in Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka when they met the accident.

Mohammad Ali son of Mehmood Khoso, Bahram son of Allah Wasayo, Ms Haseena wife of Ali Mohammad, Ms Shareefan wife of Khan Mohammad died instantly and Ms Hawa wife of Bahram Khoso breathed her last when she was being transferred to Larkana from Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka hospital due to her serious condition.

The injured were identified as Ms Sehat Khatoon, Ms Zarina, Ms Moor Zadi, Ms Seeman, Ms Saima, Akbar, Khan Mohammad, Mureed, Abdul Sattar, Basir and Bashir Khoso.

Khairpur Nathan Shah SHO Mohammad Soomro said that the truck driver escaped after the accident.
