MUZAFFARGARH: Muzaffargarh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mian Usman Ali paid a surprise visit to Shahjamal Al Shahbaz Mini Travels bus stand on Sunday and found several violations, including overcharging, poor sanitation, and lack of facilities.

He ordered the bus stand to be sealed and threatened to register a case against the owners.

The DC warned that the district administration will conduct surprise visits and take strict action against transporters who do not follow government rates.

Assistant Commissioner Nasir Shehzad Dogar was also present.

The DC spoke to passengers and asked about official fare at the bus stand, on which a public complained that they were being overcharged.

The DC said that district administration had issued updated fare lists and transport operators should follow government rates.

GANG BUSTED: The Fatehpur police in Layyah have arrested the alleged mastermind of the Faisalabadi dacoit gang, Ali Ashraf, along with accomplices Ali Imran and Azam.

The police recovered Rs3.1 million in cash and a stolen vehicle worth Rs4.5 million from the gang. According to District Police Officer Asadul Rehman, the suspects have been involved in over 50 criminal cases.

He said that the arrests will help establish peace in society and boost citizens’ confidence in the police.
