RAWALPINDI: Six people, including two children, were hospitalised with burn injuries which they sustained during a gas cylinder explosion in Misrial area on Sunday.

According to rescue services, the explosion occurred when the shopkeeper was refilling a cylinder.

As a result, six people, including Akbar Khan, 35 and his son Zaheer Khan, 18 as well as Abdul Qudoos and his two sons aged between two years and six years, suffered burns. A 45-year-old pedestrian identified as Ashfaq was also injured in the explosion.

Following the explosion, two fire tenders and three ambulances were sent to the scene of the explosion. The injured were shifted to a hospital and those with minor wounds were allowed to go home after first aid.

Earlier on Saturday night, a fire broke out in the store room of Holy Family Hospital.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the fire incident at Holy Family Hospital and sought a report from the Rawalpindi commissioner.
