EIDUL Azha is one of the two significant religious and cultural events that are observed across the Muslim world. Having been an integral part of Islam, Eidul Azha encourages people symbolically to sacrifice anything in pursuit of piety.

Beyond the religious duty, Eidul Azha encompasses several other essential principles and practices that Muslims should observe to acknowledge and honour the true spirit of the occasion. For instance, Eidul Azha is a time to cultivate compassion for those who cannot afford to buy food. It is a religious obligation to distribute meat to the less fortunate, ensuring they are part of the festivities. Besides, the religion teaches compassion towards sacrificial animals. Their rights should be respected and upheld throughout the process.

On the social scale, more critical than anything else is the religion’s emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene. People often overlook the cleanliness of their surroundings during the three days of Eid. Leftover fodder and animal remains are left in the open. This triggers the spread of many a disease. It is crucial to maintain cleanliness in our lanes, streets, neighbourhoods and cities to respect the right of others to live with health and peace.

By embracing responsible practices, we can celebrate Eidul Azha in its truely idealistic spirit, fulfilling all the religious obligations while promoting compassion, kindness and cleanliness in society. Let our Eid be a wholesome experience.
