LAHORE: Various parts of Punjab, including Sheikhupura, reportedly received rain with windstorm, weakening adverse impact of the ongoing heatwave.

On the other hand, the Met office has predicted windstorm with isolated thunderstorm in Lahore and many other districts of Punjab on Thursday evening and onward.

According to it, weak moist currents from Arabian sea is penetrating in central parts of the country with presence of a shallow westerly wave over upper parts.

“Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most areas of the Punjab province on Thursday while, windstorm with isolated rain-thunderstorm is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Kasur, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Layyah, Bhakkar, DG Khan, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Bahawalpur during evening/night. Rain, wind/thunderstorm is expected in Kashmir,” reads a press release.

It said that during the last 24 hours, rain wind-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in Attock, and at isolated places in Jhelum, Rawalpindi and Layyah districts. The weather remained hot and dry in all other districts of Punjab.

The maximum temperature (47.5 C) was recorded at Noorpur Thal in Punjab.
