TOBA TEK SINGH: Lightning killed a young man and seriously burnt two others at Chak 119-JB, Samana, of Faisalabad on Thursday night in Millat Town police precincts.

Reports said Arsalan (23), Abdul Wahid (24) and Sajjad (32) were taking bath during the rain when lightning struck them. They were critically burnt and shifted to burn unit of the Allied hospital where Arsalan succumbed to his wounds. The condition of others was also stated to be serious.

A strong windstorm followed by light rain caused the felling of hundreds of trees in the district on Thursday evening. It also resulted in the loss of mango and citrus fruits in the orchards.

A number of billboards, signboards, steel sheds of shops, and electricity poles also fell. Electricity supply was interrupted in several areas of the city and suburbs. Power had not yet been restored till the filing of this report at 10pm, although Fesco’s linemen were working on it.

OKARA: Three people suffered injuries due to the strong winds followed by rain.

According to Rescue 1122, a car lost control due to the strong winds and rammed into a roadside tree on Rao Sikander Road. The driver, Hasan, from Shergarh village, suffered injuries and was shifted to DHQ City Hospital.

Similarly, at village 40/3R, a house wall collapsed due to heavy rains and winds, resulting in injuries to Jamal and his sister Amna. They were given first aid and then shifted to DHQ City Hospital with multiple injuries. In various city bazaars, solar panels from the rooftop of a medical store were uprooted and fell into the bazaar.

The newly-constructed MA Jinnah Road was also flooded with rainwater.
