KOHAT: Two people were killed and three injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on a van near Parchao Banda on Hangu highway on Thursday, police said.

According to details, driver of a Parachinar-bound flying coach and a passenger of a local Suzuki van were killed while three others were injured in the incident.

According to details, the assailants targeted their rivals travelling in the van over a an old murder dispute and the passenger coach also came the firing line.

Rescue 1122 said that five men received bullet injuries and were taken to the KDA teaching hospital where two of them were declared dead.

A police spokesman Umer Khan said in a statement that the victims were identified as the driver of the coach, Wajid Hussain of Parachinar, and Noor Dil of Kaghazai, Kohat.

The injured included Zoheb son of Sabz Ali, Amjid son of Pervez, residents of Nowshera district, and Samiullah of Man Garhi town of Kohat.

The Ustarzai police have registered a case against the unknown attackers under sections, 302, and 324 who managed to escape from the scene.

The DPO ordered a search operation in the area for the arrest of the criminals, the police spokesman added.
