DADU: Two orphan sisters were raped in an abandoned house near a police station in Johi town five days ago but police took five days to lodge a case and that too against unknown persons despite the fact that the victims clearly identified their tormentors, complained one of the victims.

The victim, who had to go public with her and her sister’s ordeal public before public and staged protest against police at Johi Press Club on Friday, said that she and her sister had rushed to Johi police station to seek help and narrated before them their ordeal but the officials did not register any FIR and kept putting it off for five days for one or the other pretext.

They lodged the case finally last night but without naming the culprits and registered an FIR against two unknown men. Even then they had not made arrests, she said, adding the FIR (No.70) was filed under Sections 452/337, 324/24, 365/511 PPC.

“Police have deliberately weakened our case by delaying its registration because of involvement of influential political figures in the case,” she said.

Sources said that oftentimes influential political figures’ support of the culprits involved in rape cases impeded administration of justice to victims on the one hand and on the other hand led to an increase in rape incidents.

Over a fortnight ago, a woman along with her child was abducted and subjected to gang-rape for four days in Drigh Bala village in the jurisdiction of Kachho police station but police are still clueless about the culprits.
