NAROWAL: Seven people, including children, fainted after eating poisonous food in Shakargarh on Friday.

Rescue 1122 Narowal spokesperson Hurmat Ali said a phone call was received from village Kotli in tehsil Shakargarh that seven members of a family had fainted. An ambulance was dispatched to the village from Shakargarh and rescuers provided the family with first aid.

The rescuers shifted 50-year-old Shamim, Amina, 65; Nagina, 33; Noor Fatima, 22; Manaza, 11 and 10-year-old Yishfa and Anila to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Shakargarh.

The rescue spokesperson said Shamim’s condition was critical and had been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Narowal.

He said the family members felt severe stomach pain and started vomiting before fainting.

Dr Ali, who was on duty in the emergency ward of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Shakargarh, said treatment of six patients was going on at the hospital but Shamim had been shifted to the District Headquareters Hospital.
